FLAMENCO MASTERCLASS OR INDIVIDUAL CLASSES. PIANO, HARMONY AND RHYTHMS

INTRODUCTION TO FLAMENCO.
Flamenco as a phenomenon which united different cultures,above all in Andalucia at the time of the arrival of the gypsies in the fifteenth century. An overall análisis of this music with the arrival of the gypsies in Spain and the fusion of their rhythms with already existing ones. An análisis of the musical features of flamenco.
The message and contents of its lyrics.
Scales:
Mayor,minor,Harmonic minor,phrygian,alter scale.
The application of scales and study of scale-chord relationship. The fusion of differnt scales(the above mentioned ones)
Time signature and rhythm:
A study of the basic rhythms in flamenco: 3/4, 6/8, 12/8, 4/4. The relationship between time signatues and “palos”. Tientos, tangos, tanguillos, bulerias, soleá and soleá from bulerías.

TREATMENT AND UNDERSTANDING OF EACH OF THE REGIONAL STYLES.
Time signature,scales,harmonies,basic chord,melodies,accents… Weak and strong parts, syncopatio, offbeat,diatonic and chromatic notes. The “Falseta”as an essential componemt of the musical structure of flamenco.

RECORDED MUSIC AND VIDEO. Listening to different rhythms performed by artists and music groups.

HEARING,TRANSCRIBING AND PERFORMING FLAMENCO THEMESOF DIDACTIC INTEREST:
To listen to,trancribe and analyse the basic melodies contained in instrumental and vocal pieces with the aim ofgaining a greater understanding of this music.

IMPROVISATION.
The use of recorderd material for later rendering and development of improvisation based on the harmony and rhythm of the chosen pieces.

LINKING AND FUSION OF THE DIFERENT “PALOS”(flamenco rhythms)
A study of the relationship between the styles whether rhythmic or harmonic. Also the rhythmic similarity between one style and another,between the ternary subdivision styles such as the buleria and binary subdivision styles such as the tango and eventually the similarity between all the styles.
MUSICAL COMBOS.
To play with ather musicians using different instruments.

ACCOMPANYING A FLAMENCO SINGER OR OTHER MUSICIAN.
One of the most important and difficult parts of flamenco is dealt with here. First, very well-knowm flamenco themes,and later basic,more typical ones are used.
This is ideally done with 2 pianos and a voice if possible,and if not,other, melodic instruments will suffice. All rhythms will be practiced.
AIMS: Students should try to attain as deep an understanding as possible of all areas of flamenco . Teachers should try to make the subject as agreeable as possible, and of cultural and personal benefit to the student.
The spreading of flamenco culture and the opening of new areas of development.(the main
focus of this project is the piano, but the course could be adapted to any other instrument)

INTENSIVE 3 HOURS
INTENSIVE 6 HOURS
INTENSIVE 12 HOURS
(The content of the course may vary depending on the level of students)

Presencial lessons individual or group.
